And the rain continues...complete with a furious hail storm this afternoon that nearly knocked me off my feet. Here's a sampling of what's on my speakers today in an attempt to combat the gray weather here in the Bay Area. Enjoy!
A little Chilean-Swedish rap to kick things off:
Some Jamaican music that reminds me of Maputo( why don't these girls get more airtime in the US??):
A bit of kwaito from South Africa:
It's not a dance party without a little Naija:

Hi Aman,
I'm glad the blog has been useful in preparation for your move to Maputo. I am actually familiar with Aga Khan's program in Cabo Delgado and know a couple of people who work up there. I also know the silversmiths from Ibo - they do great work. Are you working with Aga Khan??
Yeah I just started with AKF a few weeks ago. Def feel like a fish out of water until I learn the ropes...but Maputo is great! I also wanted to ask you, do you know if there is an Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurant in Maputo?? I have heard it mentioned on a few "things to do in Maputo" sites but have no idea where it is. I am originally from Eritrea...so finding this mythical restaurant is my quest in Maputo this weekend.
~Aman - I also heard of that mythical Ethiopian restaurant and tried to find it a couple of times with no luck, although I admit I wasn't that thorough in my searching. This is what I've heard from colleagues who have been to the restaurant:
It is on Av. Eduardo Mondlane, near the big mosque. It is on the same side as the mosque.
The restaurant is actually Ethiopian/Italian, it seems, so perhaps some people know it as the latter when you ask for directions.
My memory may be failing me, but I believe it is called The Cottage or something along those lines.
Please report back if you actually manage to find it!!
