Okay, I have about a hundred other things I'd like to blog about, but can I just vent for a moment?
My freaking coworker Ludmila just called me ALEXANDER!!!!
Unfortunately she has a very boring name in real-life, otherwise I'd equivalently mess up her name and see how she likes it.
Grrrrrrrr. Stupid people.

A friend just wondered if perhaps people were mispronouncing my name, or saying it with such a thick/different accent it sounded like Alexander to me. Unfortunately, no, all of the mess-ups have been in writing, including Ludmila this afternoon.
I am going to have to do some stern correcting the next time it happens. Today I just subtly wrote back using my name spelled the proper way, hoping she'd catch her own mistake. We'll see.
I have a name ending with an a meaning female. I still cringe when it is mispronounced and I become male. Some Americans have a very, very hard time with it. I used to accomodate such inadequacies with nicknames, but now I just make everyone say EDUARDA.
I know how that feels! At a book signing where the guy was not Romanian, I handed him my business card cause I figured it's hard to spell a foreign name. And with the card in his hand, he still wrote Alna on the book...:P
