Zeca

Zeca, our night guard from Chimoio, posing in the front yard.

When we would go hike up the Cabeça do Velho rock formation, Zeca would keep watch over the old, beat-up Land Cruiser "Ambulance" that we'd borrow from a friend.

Ali, such a sensitive portrayal of a man who touched the lives of you and your friends. I'm sure he felt lucky to know you and have you in his corner - even as the odds, sadly were against him.

I am so sorry to hear about Zeca, Ali! Nice of you to remember him and present him in such a touching manner.

You gave him a face and place in your life and heart, he's no longer just a number in the outrageous situation going on in so many parts of the world, but especially in Africa, where I was born. Shortly after reading your post about him I watched The Constant Gardener, knowing nothing about the plot...if you haven't seen it yet, I think you'll like it.

Thanks everyone for your sympathies.

~kanuthya - I haven't seen the movie yet. It has been number one on my to-see list for almost a year, and yet the men selling pirated dvd's on the corner never seem to have The Constant Gardner in their stacks of movies.
